"The fact that children can make beautiful music is less significant than the fact that music can make beautiful children." - Cheryl Lavender
I have been teaching beginning band in northern Illinois for 16 years. I have a passion for starting the youngest band members out on the right foot and sharing in their enthusiasm and excitement of their first year of band. I work well with my team of three other music teachers and the middle school band director that my students feed into. Together we have created a successful summer band program that has almost tripled in size in the 9 years since we started it. My main instrument is trumpet and while I don't play it as often as I would like to anymore, I enjoy playing at my church during the holidays and in the summers in different ensembles.
